Double Credit - master photographer
Each Quarter, students with double credits need to research, plan and shoot a "roll" of photographs based on a master photographer. In the end, they will have two final images to present to the class along with their research.
Select one photographer from any of these lists. You may not select one that is being done by someone else in the class.
Step 1) Research the artist using a variety of print and internet resources (see below).
Step 2) Print and glue a minimum of 5 photos of theirs into your sketchbook. Label each image with the date and title of the photograph. Write why did you select this image?
Step 3) Write a brief (at least one page) essay about the artist in your sketchbook. Be sure to include: dates that the artist worked, significant events that were happening in the world at the time and how they effected the artist, what/who inspired the artist and their work, the main subject that the artist addressed, any other interesting info that you find. List the sources including url’s and books or magazines. This can be incorporated into an artful sketchbook entry with the photographer's images.
http://masters-of-photography.com is a good place to start to see many examples of the work of these artists. I also have several books that you may use while in class. Here are some other links.
